Announcing our New Programme ‘Transition’

Transition is a new project that aims to support young people with a mild or moderate intellectual disability to take a step closer to employment.

The Empower Transition project will assist and support 16 young people on their journey towards employment.  The project will recruit young people from local disability services as they are about to transition from post-primary, third level or special needs schools.

The project will deliver person-centred pre-employment and pre-enterprise programmes, designed specifically for young people with an intellectual disability. The community and voluntary sector, and the social enterprise sector in particular, will provide meaningful volunteering and employment opportunities for the young people on the Transition project.

This project will be delivered across Fingal County and will be co-located across Empower’s Jobs Club, Local Employment Service, and the TÚS and SICAP (Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme) programmes.  This will ensure young people have direct access to mainstream services in a safe and familiar setting.
